Mr. Md. Humayan Kabir Shimul currently serves as the Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of South Asia Insurance Company Limited, a position he assumed on 5 December 2024. With over a decade of professional experience, he has established himself as a dynamic finance and compliance professional, possessing extensive expertise in financial management, auditing, regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate governance across the Insurance, Financial Services, and Non-Profit sectors.
Prior to joining South Asia Insurance Company Limited, Mr. Shimul held key leadership and managerial roles in the areas of Finance & Accounts, Internal Audit, Special Audit, Forensic Investigation, Risk Assessment, and Internal Control at several reputed organizations, including Prime Insurance Company Limited, Central Insurance Company Limited, Shakti Foundation for Disadvantaged Women, NSN, and SF Ahmed & Co., Chartered Accountants. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to strengthening financial discipline, enhancing governance structures, improving regulatory compliance, and driving operational excellence.
His leadership has been instrumental in improving financial reporting standards, identifying and addressing compliance gaps, minimizing organizational risks, and fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and ethical business practices. Through his strategic approach and analytical insight, he has consistently supported sustainable organizational growth and value creation.
Mr. Shimul possesses a diverse range of professional competencies, including Financial Management, Accounting, Cost Control, Financial Analysis and Reporting, Internal and Risk-Based Audit, Statutory Audit, Forensic Audit, Compliance Management, and Risk Assessment. His meticulous attention to policy implementation and adherence to regulatory requirements has enabled organizations to achieve stronger governance and enhanced operational efficiency. Academically, Mr. Shimul holds a Master of Business Studies (MBS) degree with a specialization in Accounting. He is also pursuing the Chartered Accountancy qualification under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and is currently at the Professional Level. In addition, he is a member of the Dhaka Taxes Bar Association (DTBA) and a registered Income Tax Practitioner (ITP), demonstrating his active involvement in taxation and regulatory affairs.
